"Pomp and Circumstance"

For many of us the month of ,"May", is synonymous with, "Pomp and Circumstance"...! There is never a shortage of festivities occuring during the month of May!We are either attending, participating in,chaperoning or planning some type of event. I'm pretty sure that all of you were invited or apart of ; a graduation, anniversary, retirement party, or a promotion this month! Since the beginning of the month, I have been immensely engaged in some type of event every single week. Last week was one for the books in my opionion!!Well, let me expalin; last week was "Senior Week" and it was filled with many activities for the students (teachers too). Monday-Skating and Bowling,Tuesday-Trip to the U.S Space& Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama (I had to be up at 4am), Wednesday -Senior Picnic,Thursday-Six Flags over St.Louis ( up at 2am in bed at 4am the next day),Friday-Graduation Practice and Senior Lucheon ( up at 7:15am). I was operating off of 3 hours of sleep! I couldn't wait to get home to my bed.!!! Plus, I ate waaayyyy  too much!!! So,  Bikram,  workout classes and my runs were also calling my name.

The lack of sleep and eating food that I don't normally eat made me feel lethargic and just plainy crappy!! By Sunday, I was feeling somewhat better. I took in a 7am Bikram Yoga class then the hubs and I attended Ken -Ken's program at church that morning at 10am ( she was absolutely amazing). The two graduates ( Katherine and Mackenzie )spoke and they were awesome! Unfortunately we couldn't stay for the lucheon after church ;I had to get to the graduation ceremony for my students!I must say that I am so proud of my students!!! As I sat on stage and watched them marched down the aisle tto " Pomp and Circumstance", my eyes wailed up with tears. I  also thought about my nieces and nephew Myles (Class 2012), my niece Taylor (Class of 2013) and my niece Brooke ( class 2014) . I wasn't able to make their ceremonies but I am still so proud of all them (proud auntie). Next year my sweet girl will be graduating and it will be so bitter-sweet for me! Another neice of mines (Ilisabeth)is also graduating along with many other friends (they are growing up too fast!!:( Next year is going to be an extremely busy year for me (inserts... *sighs*)!!!  Oh well, after we left the ceremony we decided to walk around downtown to grab a bite to eat and snap a few shots.

I had to pull my hairback inorder for me to wear my cap and gown on stage!(The humidity was working against me)!

I love this dress it's so girly! Zara last Summer.....

Black with a Dash of Whimsy.....

First let me start this post off by wishing all of the wonderful mothers a, "Happy  and Bless Mothers Day"! Last night the hubs and I made our way to the Brooks Museum for the ,"Grand Auction". There were no shortage of events to attend in Memphis this past weekend.  With all of the Artshows, The Grizzlies Game (which we won... Go Grizz!!), The Redbirds Game, Graduations, The Greek Festival and so much more! Memphis has become quite the festive city!

Initially the hubs and I had planned on going to Sumner, Mississippi to attend  an art-show ( which he told me about on Thursday :) )..! Then he remembered that he had to paint a painting with his twin brother at the Brooks Museum. He was finishing up his finals all week and I was preparing my students for exams/graduation activities, so it slipped both of our minds! Nevertheless we took everything in stride and prepared to attend the event.

The weather was windy and cool all day with a low of 48 that night so, I opted to wear long sleeves especially since the auction would be held outside in a tent. I wore a black long sleeve maxi style dress with a front slit, sequin wide belt, orange and gold strappy heels and I carried a leopard clutch.

I purchased the dress in NYC this past Spring!
Thank God for good friends...love this chick!
Fell in love with this sequin belt  at first sight from Anthropologie (purchased this past winter)!

Derby Whirlwind....

Hey  Guys, so this has been somewhat of a "Whirlwind" of a weekend. On Friday the hubs and I made our way up to Kentucky from Oxford, Ms. He is working on his MFA there and had final critiques earlier that morning! I went on a 4mi run (I  had to get it in)  around the campus while waiting on him to finish his critique ( he did a wonderful job)!! We were both operating off of adrenaline , especially after getting only 4 hours of sleep!!!

Earlier that week we were trying to figure out the best way to get to Louisville in time for his performance! You know he only confirmed this event with me about eight days prior ( Super  Bussssyyy)! We checked the airlines for flights and they would all put us behind schedule.  Then we did the math and both agreed that driving would be our best option! So we put the pedal to the metal and made it just in time to get dressed and set up for the "TWIN"'s performance at the "Grand Gala".

This was my first time  going to the "Grand Gala"(Kentucky Derby) although my hubs and his brother have been the feature artists many times before.  I asked him what should I wear and he told me it was a cocktail party. Now, I  have mentioned to you guys before that I do not  function well under pressure .  I like to try on all of my outfits  before but I had been very busy at work and preparing Ken for Junior Prom.   Whenever, I have to go to an event , I feel as if I don't have anything to wear ...( Crazy I know)!  So....I felt that I needed something new to wear ( Why Not?)!  I ordered a couple of dresses and they didn't fit well at All!! So,  I  had  to settle on some pieces from my  own wardrobe. Next year or  whenever , I go back I will be more prepared! Thanks for Taking a look :)

It rained all day long on Kentucky Derby Day so yes I was still a little wet....!
