THE MINIMALIST

As many of you know, I recently traveled up north to spend some much needed time with my daughter. Summer break could not get here fast enough!! I was super anxious to see her and get out of Memphis for a bit. Well as usual, where there are plans, things never work out the way you planned them!:)  However, I’m just going with the flow!!! While traveling, I’m learning to be a MINIMALIST!:)) As of late, I’ve decided that whenever, I’m traveling on long trips that packing less is imperative!! Bringing along effortless pieces that can be worn with just about anything, that can go from day to night and be worn more than once is a must!!
I ran over and under this beautiful bridge along the Severn River this week. My running schedule is usually around 3 to 4 times a week as I train for upcoming races.
I’ve been practicing at The Bikram Yoga Dupont Circle location everyday!
I love how hot this studio is!! Bring on the heat!:)) Plus the area is Super Chic!

We rode bikes around The National Mall this past Saturday.
 I love moments like these!!
What a view!:)
Ken, Olivia and I visited the Pentagon Memorial on Saturday! I was moved to tears as we prayed for all the families who were involved .
This week we went to The National Zoo. It was nice to go to the zoo with my only child like we did when she was younger. She will always be my little girl!:))
I’ll be sharing more from this trip over the next few days. I hope that you guys enjoyed this glimpse of my summer travel diary so far.

SPRING

This Spring has proven itself to be the season of allergies and sinuses for me (I know I’m not by myself)!! Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely grateful for all of the seasons and a break from the cold weather that winter brought us but I've never experienced a Spring like this before. Here's why: my allergies and sinuses have limited my time outside doing the things that I love like running and training. It has also caused me to feel stuffy and lethargic much of time that I’m inside. Making this Spring quite challenging for me in the upper respiratory area!! As a result of me becoming increasingly cognizance of these issues; I've decided to make some much needed changes. Now, I'm a firm believer that the foods we eat, stress and the environment plays a major part in many sicknesses that occurs in the body. I also know that most, if not all diseases start in the gut. That's why I'm making a lot of changes in all areas of my life to prevent me from becoming sick as much in the future. One sure thing that is on my trajectory is to eradicate the use of antibiotics and increase the intake of  probiotics in my daily food regimen. With proper rest, the right foods and the use of natural remedies like my netipot, the body is sure to heal on its own. Don't get me wrong, antibiotics are necessary at times but not after every little sniffle or ache. Any-who, lately I've been feeling better.... for obvious reasons (If you know what I mean?) and I've decided to embrace Spring through my wardrobe. Take a look and tell me what you think!:))
I love the idea of stripes with floral and of course tops that can double as a crop!!
This outfit is easy to pull off!:))

FLORAL SET

Lately, I’ve been wearing a lot of fun floral prints. Most of them are pieces that I picked up sometime back. Like this set that I wore out to dinner with my husband this past Friday night. Okay, in all honesty this isn’t a true two piece set. The pants were in a total different section of the store from the top last summer. They were not on a mannequin display or anything like that. I actually spotted both pieces and thought that they would pair nicely together as a set. I tied the top up for a crop top look (I love crop tops) but you already know that!! Versatility is also key for me and the fact that these pieces can be dressed up or down is another plus. I actually changed into flats later that night once it started storming!:)

My Selfies are improving!:)))

PURPLE FLORAL

Hi Guys, I wore this Peter Pilotto for Target dress last Sunday on Mother’s Day. I knew that I wanted to wear something fun and floral to match my mood. Making this little number right on time!:))  This year, Mother’s Day was bitter sweet for me since it was my first Mother’s Day ever without my daughter. However, I made the most out of it. My day included: a morning run, church, family-visits, lunch and my husband pampering me. I’m forever grateful for the gift of motherhood. I can’t imagine my life with out my sweet-girl.
Mall Selfie later in the day.
